Final Piece - Shoot one

I spoke to my model to ask what she felt about herself whilst looking into the mirror to get an idea where I could go with it, she came back with proud and told me a story when her mum was proud of her, when she was born in the spring where there were loads of flowers out and there were many people coming to visit her. I replicated this by layering the mirrored faces so it had the feel of loads of people were there to see how proud she was and the flowers in her hair to show the spring side, I chose to have two lights in this shoot to show the back of the body and the front to show up in the mirrors, by using a manual focus and manual settings I could choose which part I wanted in focus. This idea had a really strong story behind it so I wanted it to be more sharp and contrast from the difference someone's life will be with a new born baby, the strong colours from the flowers also helped this, I did select around the flowers to decrease the saturation for a softer feel.

Instead of using flowers in the hair to replicate spring and the emotions of being first born, i took another shoot of flowers in their natural surrounding and layered them on top of the individual to show it was about her and she is the main focus of the story, the composition worked well with sharp and soft colours and the strong obedient flower on the head. I used two main lights the same as the last picture but kept trying different angles to see which would work and be suitable to compliment the layering. By editing this image around the individuals I could really make the black bold and opaque so there were no gaps.

Changing the angle of the camera and the intensity of the zoom I could really pick up more on the detail and have a sharp mysterious image next alongside the reflection of the blurred individual in the mirror, this was another take on my imaging by changing sequences and settings. By editing this and changing the midtone it could make the image even sharper and also the levels to deepen the background. To zoom in and create greater detail was inspired by one of Lorna Simpson's images of the contrasting collar bones which are what I wanted to replicate the sharp and soft lighting.
