I decided to edit
this and change it to background so the image doesn’t get lost in the colour,
the shadows on the background look more contrasted to the light on the pictures
which are my own photos I used for a previous photo-shoot so it all link
together. Leaving some tea in the tea bag to have a vintage /old feel to the
overall image to create a deeper contrast to the shadows on the background and
the image inside the tea bag. I used the manual setting on my camera and used
aperture so the first image was in full focus with sharp detail and the other
slightly higher and further away was blurred. The chosen light source of a lamp
work perfectly and the angle I chose to face it so it picked up on the tea bag
image to the strong lighting on the background, so the background lighting doesn’t
drag the attention away from the sharp focused image closer to the front. I
chose the dangle the tea bags as it fitted with my other shoot with the
dangling lace and the tea bag represents some one more curvy as its round and
there is always someone pretty and peculiar inside the skin of outside just
need to confidence to show it.
Zooming out on the my
camera so I could pick up more of the detail of the lace draping inside the
studio box which showed the lighting coming in, but wasn’t to sharp as I
decreased the ISO, this helped as it made the lighting on the background more detailed
and a main focus in the image, I used two lights this time more of a natural
soft vintage light and a white sharp light so it had a mixture of colours and
textures. I changed the focus in this image to make the lace and the light more
of the focal point as they are more detailed and in focus whereas the dangling
images aren’t. The composition of the lace worked really well as it draped in
from the far right and then joined in the middle along with the images and
lighting to it draws your attention away from the light sources.
I decided to go out
and take some more gloomy images of this narrow tunnel for another photo-shoot
and then mix in with this elegant photo-shoot to make it more sharp and unusual
by selecting the tea bags dangling from one image and layering on top of the
tunnel then changing the darkness of each of them and shape also the opacity as
it made them look more darker and spooky in the back, This was taken with the
flash on so the entrance of the tunnel was lit with detail of the graffiti and
more gloomy in the middle but using the original light in the tunnel so it
could still pick up on the path. I love how unusual this image is and sucks you
into it and want to look down the bottom of the path as its going from a wide
to narrow place; this creates a bit of an illusion.
Zooming in whilst
using shutter speed was very effective in this image as you can still see the
images in the tea bag but also it is substantially blurred from moving them
with a short shutter speed. I used the 'Burn' tool on Photoshop to make the tea
bag images stronger against the sharp lighting on the background. Using my own
light source from a lamp I could choose the angle and which piece of lace I
could use whether it’s the holes or a slight part of pattern in the shadows
also.
I
used the same image I edited and adjusted for this one, but started to add a bit
more confusion and unusualness to I, by selecting the draping lace of the shoot
I took and layering on top, then adjusting the angles and size of them, as this
looks like the lace is coming through the walls and appears very life like. By
using the burn tool on a higher opacity to create a sharp shadow underneath the
lace as the lighting in the image is coming from the light sources in the
tunnel which would create a shadow underneath. On the original pieces of tea
bag I selected certain areas and lightened those from there the light would be
hitting them so they look real and life like. The story behind this image is to
show a woman’s mind they have a long tunnel and thinking area but mainly its unusual
and confusion from different areas of their life feeling gloomy and unsure to
pieces of reassurance from certain people saying they are perfect which is a
representation of the lace coming through, the dangling tea bags represent different
angles of their life hanging by a thread which they want to be true but need
the pressure to be perfect to leave to let them come out.
I started to
experiment more with shutter speed by zooming further out to show the lace in
precise focus picking up on the detail very well by the use of shadows from the
chosen light I used which also shined through the lace to create the pattern on
the background for another texture and dimension. I moved the studio box to
make the tea bags and string move to create this strong effect with the mixture
of textures from blurred from shutter speed to a sharp patterned background
with a more elegant focus on the lace with the right composition which is to
the right.
