This is the final
image I used for my final piece, by using the same idea as Mike Henry with the
natural poses and colourful background which link well together with the
culture idea. I decided to layer jewellery over the top as cultures have a stereotype
but is true that jewellery and glitz and glam, I laid them out naturally with
using a mixture natural light and studio light to have a free feel and not
staged. I burned around some areas to make them stand out and higher contrast.
The story behind this image is to replicate how the individual felt about
herself reflecting from culture life so I made the jewellery look like it’s
around her/chained up and a part of her with the opacity and composition, as
people stereotype they can’t do much but her facial expressions are naturally
happy so shows she is happy with who she is and her appearance, there is a deep
and strong story behind this image which really reflects in the sharp focus and
vibrant colours.
This was a very
natural image with her smiling and the body language, along with the
composition, this works perfectly to show the jewellery chaining her up to
represent peoples perception on cultures to be protected but behind closed
doors that isn’t the story and the individual felt about her appearance as
reflective, individual and glisten which is what I wanted to replicate and fit
in with the story. I think the story and whole process worked really well, the
composition was exaggerated more by using Photoshop and gradually fading a
darker red to lighter, this was fitted in well by picking up on colours in the
background. The contrast from the studio lighting picked up on various places
of the individual and gave a natural glow and sharp shadows.
