Photoshoot

The technique of using studio lighting really exaggerated the shadows and soft/sharp light, I experimented with many different settings on the camera and with the lights but decided to use manual and the reflective umbrella on 1.3 with the angle facing down on the right side for the soft light and strong shadows on left side. This technique worked really well on this image as I wanted the lace to be the main focus with the composition with it in the middle and on the left, as the light really picked up on the white. I then edited it on Photoshop by creating a layer and decreasing the opacity then moving it slightly to the right for a more contrasting 3D overall image.

I chose to turn this image to black and white to create a less confusing image. With the soft black and white made by decreasing the saturation and hue so it wasn't so harsh rather than the control 'Convert to Black and White' on Photoshop. I changed my setting to close up and adjusted the ISO and shutter speed so it wasn't over exposed and was still fully in focus. The same lighting was used for this image with just the reflective umbrella facing downwards on the right to create harsh shadows.

Using the reflective umbrella and now adding in the soft box for a light hitting the left side for a subtle and soft affect, the soft box was on the lowest setting of 1.0 so it wasn't over exposed and didn't draw the attention from the face. ISO was on 100 with F. on 1/25 so it wasn't over exposed with the studio lighting. I used the mixed media called 'crackle glaze' to create this over all image and scanning it into Photoshop then layering on top of the original image then selecting 'lighter colour' so the main focus of the image came through the crackle glaze. Adjusting the levels on this image gave a greater depth of colours and shadows which gave this over all dramatic and creative image.

I pictured this image the same way as the first final image, but decided to not layer on Photoshop to have a crisp end result with the bold colour of the hair up against the contrast white and black shadows with the lace. The focus was my main concern for this image and wanted to get it perfect, which it turned out how I wanted being able to see the detail in the lace, hair and a slight glimpse of the eye in the shadows.
